You’ve found my blog and now you want to know a little bit about me huh? Well, here’s the scoop…

I was born n’ raised in North Carolina and I still live here. I was brought up at a time when kids were not allowed to hang around the house watching TV but were instead sent outside to get into stuff. So that is what I did. Almost all of my outdoor knowledge is self taught through hands on experience in the neighborhood woods. About the time I was in high school I started studying survival skills and bushcraft in more detail. I branched out to the State / National parks and private acres easily with in reach. Over the years I’ve participated in several courses and even taught a few on the skills I am strongest with.

People say that I collect hobbies. Over the years I’ve had quite a few but I always seem to come back to a core set: fly fishing, paddling, air guns, camping, bushcraft and woodlore. Over the past several years I have become very interested in photography and videography. In addition to these hobbies, I really enjoy tinkering in the shop. I tend to work mostly on household things, items related to my hobbies (stoves, knives, gear, etc) and Halloween props. Check out my yardhaunt at Grimrot Cemetery. Warning: This blog may contain posts, discussions or reviews on any of these subjects, and others I find interesting.

A bit of personal information: I’m married to the most wonderful woman in the world. We have a girl (circa 2004) and a boy (circa 2006) that have just started getting into woodlore and such. As they get older I will drag them along on more adventures. We also have two dogs and two cats. That’s one dog for each adult in the house and one cat for each child.
